Case Study
Creating practical toolkits and workshops
Problem
This Not for Profit organisation wanted to increase the number of staff and volunteers managing change initiatives Whilst they could afford to provide some training, they needed a cost effective way of sustaining their ability to manage change.
Solution
After designing and delivering a national change management training programme, I identified a number of volunteers to work with me on creating a toolkit of support materials suitable for a range of changes, including system change, process change and staff re-organisations.
Two of the most popular resources:
- Webinars where I explained how to use each of the templates that provided simple guidance on how to run an initiative from scoping the initial idea and creating a business case to supporting people as they devised new ways of working.
- Tips and techniques database, where everyone is encouraged to log details of workshop activities, presentations, diagrams and new checklists that they have used successfully on their own change initiatives.
Results
The charity has been able to run more change initiatives, using its own staff and volunteers. It has reduced reliance on external contractors and consultants which is a sensitive area when justifying where donations are being spent.
Two years on, the toolkit continues to be updated and even though I am no longer working for the charity, I regularly supply them with new materials based on lessons learned from other organisations.
