Change management: core role for PMOs
by Melanie Franklin
As part of my review into the role of PMOs to guide/manage the changes brought about by projects I reviewed current available roles for PMO managers to see what organisations want from them in terms of change management:
Portfolio Management Office, Capita: Ensure that all change is fit for purpose and transitioned safely to production – makes the point, project and change management are integrated! https://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/95654277?trk=vsrp_jobs_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A64521481446458632348%2CVSRPtargetId%3A95654277%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary
Head of PMO and Change Management, Aviva: Creating and owning the change management process – again, managing the portfolio means managing change!
Head of Portfolio Management, Hanover Housing Association: Excellent knowledge of change management theory and its implementation, as the role is expected to brief the executive leadership team on change management
Head of Business Programme Office – portfolio management by another name but emphasising the need for excellent change management knowledge: Responsible for setting up change management standards.
PMO Manager, Truphone: Reports to Head of Business Change, so this role is positioned to champion change management processes and techniques.
Do these responsibilities match your role – or is change management the responsibility of a strategic transformation function in your organisation? I would love to hear your views.
